The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) provides resources to help people lead healthy lives through increased food access and improved overall health through nutrition and physical activity. SNAP-Ed partners with community organizations to change the policies, systems, and environments of those sites and offer education programs to support positive changes in those communities.

SNAP-Ed supports families eligible for SNAP and schools where 50% or more of the families qualify for free and reduced meals (FARM). This includes Head Start, Preschool Education Program (PEP) and Judy Centers.

SNAP-Ed programming reaches participants in a variety of ways including:

  • Interactive nutrition-based lessons and materials for youth and adults
  • School and community garden support
  • Farmers and farmers’ markets training and materials to reach low-income communities
  • Food pantry promotion and healthy food purchasing support
