Aster cordifolius
Herbaceous flowering perennial 
Daisy family

Maryland distribution: open woods and clearings throughout Maryland

Height: 2 - 3 feet high
Blooms: clouds of tiny, pale violet, daisy-like flowers in the fall
Sun: partial sun to shady locations                         
Soil: prefers moist to wet soils

Garden use & maintenance: each plant has many arched branching stems with many small flowers; there is a lot of variability in the intensity of flower color; good as a cut flower
